Very rare gold bullion wire pilot's cap badge. The " IA " monogram within a wreath of laurel surmounted by a lion upon a torse on a black deeply padded shaped backing. Imperial Airways were formed in the 1920's and became British Overseas Aircraft Corporation in 1939.
