Beja Battle Badge.

Scarce WW II unofficial locally made badge awarded to units of the Royal Artillery and the Hampshire Regiment. An aluminium shield backed with red felt material bearing a German tank pierced by a sword and a small " BEJA " title plaque,complete with a brass brooch type pin fitting to the reverse. These badges were ordered by the Commanding Officer of 172 Field Regiment Royal Artillery to be produced in Tunis and awarded to members of 155 Battery Royal Artillery and men of the 5th. Hampshire Regiment to commemorate their heroic stand against an attack by German Armour.The badge was worn either pinned to the battledress pocket or on the sleeve below the formation sign.
