Gilt and enamel king's crown lapel badge with brooch pin fitting and makers details for Miller Birmingham to the reverse. Three seaxes on a cross backed by a pair of crossed swords to the centre of a crowned circlet bearing the title, " 111 Squadron Royal Air Force " above the motto scroll, " Adstantes ". Originally formed in 1917 the Squadron fought in the Battle of Britain with Hurricanes before converting to Spitfires in 1941. Based in Malta later the Squadron covered the Sicily landings and by the end of the war they were one of the highest scoring Squadrons claiming 249 enemy planes destroyed.
